Video Shoot

Last Saturday we shot our first video for future monster smash-hit, "Starry Tilting Sizzle." Our friend, Dennis from the unstoppable Fkenal, directed. (If you've seen Fkenal, Dennis is responsible for the video projection that shows behind them when they play; if you haven't seen them, do). Helping him was Crash, a lanky guy with a vaguely European accent. To me, he sounded like the movie version of Alex from Everything is Illuminated, but he turned out to be Turkish. (I said it was "vaguely" European). He was great and told an incredible story about weed and glow sticks.

For 5 hours, we ran around in darkness out in the foothills of Alta Dena. Actually, it wasn't so much dark as it was pitch black, but the views were pretty sweet until the sun went down.

Now, the gate at the bottom of the mountain warned us that we'd be locked in after 8. BUT, another sign gently suggested that, should we be locked in, call this number. So when we finished and found ourselves en-jailed, we called. It was the sheriff. He said he was busy and would get to us when he could.

Fair enough.

So we hung out, took random pictures like the one of Crash at the top of this post, fell asleep, called again. Two hours later, I was starting to think I'd have to spend the night in the car, stretched out just enough to sleep, but still twisted into a pretzel.

Then some dude in a Tercel drove up and barked, "C'mon, get up, get out, I gotta get through!" He had keys, and we didn't ask questions.

There's still a few more hours of shooting to do. I'll keep ya posted.
