Bro Down '06
This year I chose not to go home for Thanksgiving. My parents offered to fly me out, but I declined. I think it would've depressed me to be around family, in light of recent sad and lonely events. There's something strangely fun and empowering about fending for yourself on a holiday. Not that I was alone. I had Fatso, Tom, and Todd: Bros 4 Life!!!

Luckily, I had my camera ready. Here, in no particular order, is a recap of our day.

I am Split
Here's a bunch of stuff I've blogged elsewhere. I guess the cat's out of the bag, if it was ever a cat or a bag ever existed. I'm not totally sure why I didn't just post it here. Originally I just felt like doing something different. Different writing, somewhat of a different audience. But then the writing wasn't all that different, and the audience was only different by "somewhat". Besides, I missed y'all.

Anyway, I still don't know where I'll be posting more. If it's more like Spring Break, whatever that is, then it'll go here. If it's something else, it'll go there. Really, I just want to see you work it.

the joy of filling in for Reception, #38
This white guy with a bow tie gingerly approached me with his parking card. "I'll just hand this to my friend here [me] for a parking validation."

I had to tell him that, even though he'd come in for a deposition and was here for several hours, we didn't validate. Unfortunately, that's just our policy.

Suddenly, he was no longer the jovial J Crew picture. He was... angry. "I spoke to Cathy Flynn yesterday, and she told me that you do."

I could tell my word wouldn't cut it. I told him to wait while I called our office manager, knowing exactly what she'd say. And yep, she said it.

"I'm sorry, Cathy's new and she probably didn't know."

"Do you have any idea what this is going to cost me?"

I tried my hardest not to laugh, but at the same time I didn't really care. "A lot...?"

Ignoring this, he zanged me with his prepared comeback. "A significant sum."

Dang, he didn't have to go there.
